Our Mission and Vision
CSTA Philippines is the Philippine voice of equitable access to resources that enable teachers to deliver a world-class computer science education to their students.
 

It is the mission of CSTA Philippines:

  • to serve as an organization that supports a rapidly evolving membership

  • to drive growth and improve teachers's development in the Philippines

  • to provide professional opportunities in the convening of teachers in the Philippines; and

  • to diversify the programs and services to promote the organization's operational sustainability

President: Edge (Adrian) A. Angeles

 
Edge is currently a teacher of Computer Science at the high school level. He has been teaching Computer Science and Computer education since 2005. He has taught at several of the premier private high schools in the Philippines and spent a considerable amount of time teaching theoretical Computer Science and software development at the tertiary level. He contributed to the recommendations for the curricula of BS Computer Science and BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing while employed at the university level. He is now participating in generating Computer Science content and curricula for the elementary, middle, and high school.
 
Edge is currently a licensed professional teacher of Computer Science.

Vice President: Pam Ros Damarillo

 
Pam describes herself as a teaching a learning enthusiast, a geek, and a maker. She is currently the lead superhero maker for DEVCON Kids Philippines where she teaches the fundamentals of Computer Science centered around problem-solving.
 
Over the last 20 years, Pam has been actively volunteering in leadership roles in youth oriented non-profit organizations such as the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, various Parent Teachers Associations, and the Boy Scouts of America. She is currently the  Program Director of DEVCON Kids Philippines.

 

As VP of CSTA Philippines, Pam is excited to work to engage with all stakeholders to make Computer Science accessible to all Filipino school children.

Vice President:  Jonathan Dayao 

 
Doc Dayao as he is fondly called has over 30 years experience in teaching and developing systems. He started his career as a CS teacher and became Dean at the College of Computer Studies at De La Salle University in Manila Philippines. After his stint in the academe, he moved to industry to lead software development and IT service delivery teams. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Brighton in England.
 
Jonathan currently has an online business and does consulting for academe and technology firms. His advocacy is to get Computational Thinking implemented in Philippines K-12 curriculum.

Secretary:  Carol Alay-ay

 
Carol is a volunteer Lead Learner for DEVCON Kids. She holds a Masters in Business Management and a degree in BS Computer Science. In addition, Carol has earned Early Childhood Education units from Stratford Career Institute, USA, via their distance learning program. Early in her career, Carol worked in the Business Information IT Department for one of the biggest soft drink companies in the Philippines.
 
Currently, Carol is the Systems Administrator/ IT Consultant for a local company. She also handles the Digital Creatives Committee of Artipolo, an art group in the country. Now she joins the team of Computer Science Educators on their mission to support and empower the CS teachers in the Philippines.

Treasurer:  Jan Michael R. Ibanez

 
Jan Michael R. Ibanez, better known to his students and colleagues as Sir JM, is a Computer Science Teacher at the Philippine Science High School - Central Luzon Campus where he has been teaching for 5 years. With a degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, he began his career at Samsung Research & Development Institute Philippines. He earned his Certificate in Teaching from the Central Luzon State University Open University after moving to PSHS-CLC.
 
Today, he is a happily married Licensed Professional Teacher from Tarlac City who advocates for the advancement of computer science teachers and has also been helping small schools enable distance learning.
