On July 14, 2023, the University of Santo Tomas became a vibrant hub of knowledge and collaboration, as it hosted the successful event titled "Reigniting the Passion for K-12 Computer Science Education." A gathering that attracted 61 attendees from 17 educational institutions, the event shone a spotlight on the importance of enhancing computer science education in the K-12 sector.

The seminar provided a valuable platform for attendees to learn more about the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Philippines, get to know its officers, and network with other members. It also offered a great opportunity to share personal experiences with teaching and computer science and acquire new knowledge and skills in the field.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed speakers including Ms Jerralyn Padua, Dean of the UST College of Information & Computing Sciences, Mr Jemar Jude Maranga, CEO of CodeChum, Mr Carlo Quito, Special Science Teacher III from DOST-Philippines Science HS, and Dr Jay-Arr Tayao, Education Supervisor I from DepEd SDO Bulacan. Each offered their insights and experiences, providing invaluable learning for the attendees.

This endeavor would not have been possible without the generous support from our sponsors: University of Santo Tomas, UST College of Information & Computing Sciences, CodeChum, Amihan Global Strategies Inc., DEVCON Kids, and Mariteas Milktea Station. Special mention to Rev. Fr. Gaspar Sigaya, UST-CICS Regent, who conducted the official Oath Taking Ceremony, marking the commitment of the officers to advancing computer science education in the Philippines.

The attendees' feedback was overwhelmingly positive. They commended the CSTA-Ph Officers for their effective coordination and execution of the event, and they praised the speakers for their insightful ideas. Many expressed their enthusiasm for future events and their willingness to continue the collaboration and advocacy for computer science education in the Philippines.

Participants also mentioned their appreciation for the "Lightning Talk," indicating it as a highlight of the event, and expressed hope for more such engaging formats in the future. There were requests for the addition of online seminars to allow those unable to travel to participate in such beneficial learning experiences.

Overall, "Reigniting the Passion for K-12 Computer Science Education" was an enlightening event that invigorated the participants' commitment to improving computer science education in the country. The forum truly embodied the mantra: Connect, Teach, Support, Adapt, underscoring the collective goal of the CSTA Philippines family to make computer science accessible for all.
