Pam Ros Damarillo, CSTA Philippines President delivers keynote at the Society for Technology in Education Philippines' conference "Technology in Transformative Times"

It was a tremendous privilege to be a speaker at the Society for Technology in Education Philippines' conference, 'Technology in Transformative Times' last July 22nd.

My presentation, entitled "Decoding the Future: Unleashing the Potential of Filipino Children Through Computer Science," emphasized the essential role of Computer Science in K-12 education. I introduced the attendees to the DEVCON Kids Program by DEVCON Philippines, the CSTA Philippines, and the CSTA CS Teachers and K-12 Standards.
Following my presentation, I was joined by Bro. Mark Roberth R. Laurea, FMS, and Ms. Mary Benjalyn De Isidro on a panel discussion, expertly moderated by Mr. Michael David John E. Abello. The conversation was enlightening and cohesive, enhancing our mutual understanding of the subject matter.

The attendees clearly identified that for successful integration of computer science into the curriculum, fostering a collaborative environment among educators and CSTA and providing them with necessary support are vital. It was agreed that there's a pressing need to focus on the collaboration among teachers and provide them with the comprehensive support they need to successfully infuse computer science into the curriculum.

I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to advocate for Computer Science (CS) for all children, particularly in my homeland, the Philippines. Given the pervasive nature of CS in our contemporary world, its importance cannot be overstated.

My heartfelt thanks to Michael David John E. Abello and Jaime Caro for their nomination and invitation to deliver the keynote address. The conference was impeccably organized and highly professional throughout – a truly rewarding experience to be part of!
