In an inspiring initiative to promote computer science education, the CSTA Philippines joined forces with DEVCON Kids and the Sweden-based tech pioneer, imagiLabs, to orchestrate the "Learn Python with Pixel Art Crash Course." Attracting a crowd of over 40 eager participants, the event began by shining a spotlight on each partner's unique mission. While DEVCON Kids advocates for equitable access to foundational CS education, envisioning a rise in STEM interests, the CSTA Philippines stands firm in its resolve to enhance K-12 computer science education in the archipelago. Not to be left behind, imagiLabs, championing diversity in tech from Sweden, shared its ambitious vision.

As the event unfolded, standards alignment was shared, leading seamlessly into the main attraction - the Pixel Art Crash Course. Led by the dynamic duo, Nadia Garfunkel, imagiLabs' Global Head of Partnerships, and Jennifer Hart, the Educator Engagement Manager, the session proved to be a deep dive into the coding world. Participants immersed themselves in constructing multiple lines of code, unraveling the intricacies of loops, and playing with animation.

Feedback from the webinar was overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised the organized structure, expert-led guidance, and the visually-rich presentations. While many lauded the vast knowledge they acquired in such a limited timeframe, others offered suggestions to further enhance future sessions. A notable highlight was the general consensus on the transformative nature of the event. What was once perceived as a daunting world of coding became an accessible, enjoyable, and captivating realm for many.

The concluding takeaway was evident. The event didn't just teach coding; it reshaped perceptions, corrected misconceptions, and unveiled Python's versatility as not just a coding tool, but a canvas for artistic expression. The journey from apprehension to confidence was clear in attendees, many of whom are now looking forward to their next coding adventure, bolstered by platforms like imagiLabs that make the learning curve smoother and more inclusive.
